My cat died last week
He was the best cat
He had Diabetes
On Saturday we got a new kitten to fill the cat sized hole left behind by the old cat
The new guy is great, it helps to have a new friend
Somehow I watched Meanwhile on Earth on this day of all days
- Backing up everything for a guix install
- Going to the hoh rainforest on a back packing trip
- Installed linux and coreboot on an old EOL chromebox
- It runs Tux Paint pretty well
- I've done two weeks of IT now
- It's pretty fun, I can't stop doing it
- I might install linux on a bunch of 2013 macs later, I dunno
- Today was my first day as an IT technician
- My students from before are literally one door down from my office
- They all missed me terribly since I left my old job on Friday

- To my (uninformed) mind the ways in which the rich and powerful talk about their machines hasn't changed too much since the 19th century, and if that's the case what exactly has changed about the machines other than degree and implementations.

- I flew into reno with my little nephew

- I ended up only going to Kamikochi
- I arrived in Japan for the first time in my life
- It smelled like sweat and cigarettes when I got off the plane
- I was interviewed by "Why did you come to Japan?"
- I came to hike from Toyama to Kamikochi
